Top 7 Trashy College Gym Credits

Top 7 Trashy College Gym Credits

Hey gang, welcome back to the Garbage Blog! In our most recent episode, Jeremiah Watkins returned to the pod, where we really dug into his Dirtbag coffers.

We learned he took "Bowling" as a gym credit in COLLEGE...

Does it count as a sport if you can do it while burning a heater?

We decided to uncover what other Dirtbag Gym courses are out there, and boy did we find some... Here's

Top 7 Trashy College Gym Credits

7. Kayak Rolling / University of Nevada, Reno

They say going ultra-niche is the way to corner an industry -- and Reno is just the place to master the technique of flipping a kayak while submerged.

Yes, Reno is in the desert.

This is more of a "forest garbage" trait - a specific type of Dirtbag takes this class, and it is niche.

But we're glad it exists - this seems vital to certain, extreme sporting group of individuals that work in Search & Rescue.

6. Billiards /  Oregon State University

This course is offered at quite a few schools... because there are Dirtbags all over the US.

You learn the physical part of the sport for technique, as well as the strategy, variations, how to gamble... (We assume.)

I mean, technically this is heavy on geometry, right? This should count as two courses.

Either way, hats off to a Dirtbag that can eat chicken wings while playing a sport.

5. Scuba Diving & Sailing  / Penn State University

New Guy Luke may fight you on this one, but at Penn State and a handful of other schools, you can take sailing or scuba diving. (Why is it always the land-locked schools?)

What makes it a Dirtbag activity? Being on the ocean and looking at fish are Dirtbag activities, obviously.

Rich people like to get into these activities because they're expensive - but don't be fooled.  You're smelly and wearing latex, and breathing from a tank, that is all trashy.

4. Trampoline and Tumbling / University of Maryland

Gymnastics do not get their fair due in 2026 - except at U of Maryland

For a whole semester you can literally learn to TUMBLE - flips, drops, twists, on top of a freaking TRAMPOLINE!!

This sport may seem pretty classy on its outset, but the college course aspect is what makes it trashy. Adults learning to do twirls while jumping??

3. Circus Arts

This is a collection of sports... And common at schools that have a prominent theater department.

Juggling, trapeze, aerial skills like hanging from a giant ribbon - you know, circus people stuff.

But I think training for the circus is the opposite of needed to work in the circus...

If Stephen King novels are to be believed, the circus folk are misfits that roam town to town after a string of jail time and the death of a formative relative.

Please note: this is separate from Clown College.

2. Pole Dancing / Boston University

Again - a skill you really don't need to go to college for?

Do rich people just want to cosplay as Garbage and feel dangerous?  My culture isn't your Halloween costume...

But real talk, this sport requires an extreme amount of athletic prowess and hats off to the beautiful girls... But. Still trashy to read on a transcript.

1. Zombie Apocalypse Survival / High-Intensity Tactical Prep / Garda College

According to the internet, this class "put students through chaotic, hyper-intense interval circuits designed to simulate the unpredictable physical stress of a tactical emergency."

I think colleges should go back to teaching about the science-y side of disease outbreak?

Who am I, in a post-2020 world?

Regardless, we think your drum major in high school would really like this class.

What trashy gym class did you take in college? How much did you learn?
