Welcome back to the Garbage Blog, gang....
Steve Rannazzisi stopped by Tuddy's for the first time this week! We learned A LOT about this Dirtbag being a Dirtbag... But can youse believe his brother is a priest??
Steve - like Foley - also went to Catholic school, so we thought we'd explore the best of the Dirtbags and their offenses at Catholic School. Here's
10 Reasons Dirtbags Got in Trouble at Catholic School*

*These submissions are sourced from the internet - we do not know these Dirtbags.
10. An Exhibitionist
I got written up in eighth grade because one of my teachers saw me and my crush hug goodbye to each other… after school had ended and we were in the parking lot headed to our parents’ cars. Good ol' public display of affection.
9. When You're First and Last
For me, the dumbest thing that i got in trouble for was learning how to write cursive a year early.
I was in 1st grade when i asked one of the 4th graders to teach me how to write in cursive. A couple days later, we had indoor recess due to it being below zero. So i did some practice on some scrap paper and the other 1st grade teacher for a different class saw it and took my paper and gave it to the principal.
Needless to say i got bitched at and the principal organized a meeting with my parents. It was ridiculous.
8. Pet Sematary
In 8th grade we did a year in review art piece. Essentially, it was a piece of clay we painted on. I had started horse back riding lessons the year before and the horse I trained on, Metro, passed away. I put RIP Metro in a small spot off to the side.
The school called my parents acting like I brought a dead horse to school for show and tell.
7. What if you're color blind?
I had more than one detention for mismatched socks.
6. Don't Ask, Don't Tell
Went to Catholic school for years. But my “favorite” story comes from CCD. When I got to sixth grade, my father allowed me to transfer to public school, so of course I had to go to CCD.
So, my CCD teacher when I was in 7th grade gave us an assignment. “Write an essay about a saint.” We were given a list of saints to choose from. On the list was Sarah. I questioned her inclusion on the list, as she was a matriarch, not a saint. And the fit hit the shan.
The nun who ran the CCD program came into the classroom and chewed me out in front of the entire class and threw me out of CCD. For asking a question.
I told my father what happened. He went to the pastor. Both of them knew I was in the right. So my dad taught me from a catechism for the rest of the school year. When I got to 8th grade, Sister Peggy had been transferred to a different parish, so I went back to CCD and got confirmed on schedule.
5. On a Crusade
This wasn’t ridiculous but it was funny….we moved to a rural area my junior year of HS and there was one Catholic school, which my parents sent me to. I was a history buff and the school mascot/name was the Crusaders, cuz the Crusades are such a charming and wholesome part of Catholic history, right? This was back in the 80’s and I got shit for pointing out that maybe we shouldn’t be named after or be promoting that particular ethos.
Okay, homecoming and we are playing against the local Native American reservation high school. I volunteer to do the banner for the football players to run through, so I do “Go Crusaders” in big block letters and draw cartoon figures of knights in armor cutting off heads, arms, stabbing brown people with blood spurting everywhere. When they told me that wasn’t appropriate, I told them I was just promoting what the crusaders stood for. They stopped doing the banner run through after that.
Different Catholic High School in another area, my husbands last day at the school, he hijacked the PA to play the Vatican Rag by Tom Lehrer. “First you get down on your knees, fiddle with your rosaries, bow your head with great respect, then genuflect, genuflect, genuflect!”
4. LOL
“Inappropriate laughter.” I was seated next to a very funny guy and there were 50 of us in a class, total silence all the time. Paul had great timing. It was worth getting slapped for laughing at one of his.
3. Calm it Down
I remember in 5th grade our whole class got punished for “clapping too loudly” after mass. We had silent lunches and no recess for 2 weeks iirc.
2. An Innocent Man?
I got in trouble in high school once because I had nothing to confess during Confession.
I literally went in and said, "Forgive me father, for I haven't sinned. Me being here is a waste of your time and mine."
I thought the guy was going to kill me right then and there. I think that was the very last time I ever went to Confession, too.
1. Too Cool for School

I guess I am lucky in that I never had any of this in school. I actually had a school where the sisters and priests were actually cool. Yes, cool. One had her own car and had a massive stereo system installed in it to crank the tunes. Another sister was a speedster and had piles of speeding tickets each year.
Priests were all laid back. So honestly can say no issues there. One old priest who was there for 9mos each year was kind of an old crotchety buzzard. He just wasn’t friendly and he had no problems scolding elderly people on things like parking, etc. saw many arguments because those people weren’t going to take his shit either.
I know and understand others didn’t have the same experience I had. For this, I’m lucky in that things were very moderate for the 1970-1980s.
What did youse get in trouble for during Catholic school? How many years did you attend?
