Micro-Enterprise Titans of Industry | The Garbage Blog

We asked for small business owners, and the Army of Garbage RESPONDED in a big way! MANY THANKS to the Homies and Bozos for your outpouring of submissions.

On our most recent episode, we decided to look at "micro-enterprise titans of industry" which includes business that:

  • have 10 or fewer employees
  • $50 k or less start up capital
  • micro-loans vs traditional financing
  • focus on serving local communities and niche markets

Let's get into it!

Micro-Enterprise Titans of Industry | Pt 1

1. Pat's Image of Hairstyling | Blue Bell, PA

AKA Pat's Hairstyling for Men - is the premier choice barber in the PA area!  (And maybe dating Aunt Tuddy...?)

Pat is A GENTLEMAN, and a Phillies fan, to say the least.

This is (likely ?) his Yelp website, so check him out!

2. Wooder Ice, LLC | Bozeman, Montana

Okay so we haven't been able to verify their website or Instagram or... whatever.

This is an Italian Water Ice stand in Bozeman, MO. But we gotta give a nod to Homies bringing the best of the East Coast to west!  Really doing the Lord's work.

It's got great reviews... And we believe it's located at the below address:

319 N Seventh Ave, Bozeman (corner of Villard and 7th)

3. Upbeat City Entertainment | Florence, SC

Mobile DJ, good time instigator, and fedora thought-leader.

Here is the website for Mike @ Upbeat City Entertainment.  Looks like he does everything from DJ-ing weddings to helping you make music. (You gotta ask Mike about the specifics.)

But shout out to Mike, shout out to Upbeat City, and shout out for being a long-time Homie and coming to the live shows!

4. Yuki Homes | Japan ? New York ?

We love a high-powered Dirtbag who builds their business around the ski season.

The self-proclaimed "Zillow of Japan" Yuki Homes is "Japanese real estate assistance driven by people who actually own property. We started YukiHomes after buying our own place and hitting every roadblock. Now we do it for you."

I love it when a mission statement lets me know that I don't have to do any work!

5. H & H Processing | Cynthiana, KY

These guys are the TRUEST of blue collar workers, helping farmers, hunters, and more to process their meats from butcher to time to EAT.  (If you know how hard this job is, you know, and they are fully licensed!)

Here is their Facebook Page - and we must say, that have a kick-ass hat as a part of their merch.

6. Tox Brewing Company | New London, CT

I've never been to Connecticut - because I don't think I make enough money to enter their zip codes - but I may need to make a TRIP for this one.

First, it's a Brewery - that serves food with hilarious names - the tap handles are shaped like mushrooms - AND it has a poison dart frog exhibit.  It seems like they even started doing coffee during the daytime!

While I do not need to meet the frogs, it's their logo mascot because one of the founders is a clinical toxicologist.  We love when homies follow their alcoholic dreams - and you can buy their beer in CT, NY, and NJ.

One thing we're sure of - you're getting flexible lighting.

7. Wicker Construction, LLC | Middle Tennessee

First off, Mr. Wicker, we thank you for your service, and congrats on becoming a new dad! Sniper?! Paratrooper!!?? An AMERICAN HERO!

Owned and operated by Grant Wicker himself, this is a Middle Tennessee construction company that's "licensed & insured excavation and concrete contractor specializing in grading, site work, and concrete services for residential and commercial projects."

Wicker Construction Website

I don't know much about the cement biz, which is why I'd call Wicker for all my hard-rock and excavating needs in the Middle Tennessee area!

8. Unnamed Business / Independent Carpenter for Finish and Trim Woodworking / Jack F | Denver, CO

Youse understand that no name means less risk!

Jack is a carpenter - a man of the people! Here is his Instagram - hit him up to get those finishing touches finished!

9. Katie Haven Professional Organizer | Yonkers, NY

Our girl Katie is a professional organizer - and we can really relate to her following statement:

"I was basically a human tornado with a shopping habit..."

Katie professionally organizes for individuals, families, or even commercial businesses.

Nothing will make you feel better than being professionally organized - like that lasting, clean-teeth feeling after you leave the dentist. And each year Haven donates a portion of each year’s proceeds to the CJD Foundation and Richmond Community Services.

Check out Haven here

10. PGW Auto Detailing | Norristown, PA

This homie will come to your house - or business - or whatever - and detail your car interior!

We got the opportunity to talk to the proprietor Patrick himself on the air - and what a guy!

Send him some more biz so he can stop his other side gig - hit him up on Instagram

11. Raf Mobile Mechanic | Philly + New Jersey

You Dirtbags have been there - a car that needs towed to the mechanic? Is the car even worth the price of the tow?!

John, this guy here, is a Bozo with some brains, who started a mobile mechanic business during the pandemic!

He's got 4.9 stars on what we believe is his website - and we think youse should give him a call for any mechanical, vehicular issues.

Even if you have a high-dollar car, John is proclaimed to be a great mechanic! Give him a ring.

12. Titans Painting | Kansas City, MO

Residential painting, interior and exterior, specializing in wood rot and all that other stuff you don't have time to paint yourself.

Also according to our Dirtbag, they do primo stuff, with legitimate 100% 5-star reviews.  We love a family business, so check em out on their website, MO!
