Dirtbag Life Cycle of Washing Dishes

Dirtbag Life Cycle of Washing Dishes

If you're the same brand of Dirtbag as AYG -- you don't wash your dirty dishes right away.

...Or even the same day. Or week.

But that's your business!!

So in consideration of the Dirtbags out there living with roommates and/or wives that are on your case, we thought we'd lay out the best ways to extend your goodwill and decrease the amount of time you're wash dishes.

Here's

The Dirtbag Life Cycle of Washing Dishes

1. Rinse the Dirty Dishes

We know...  For once you DIDN'T order take out or get fast food, and you actually took the time to cook dinner, all by yourself.

Like, meat, potato, vegetable, and everything... You deserve a beer or two.

But then you immediately have to turn around and CLEAN for 20 + minutes?  Ain't no damn chance... the new AYG just dropped and you deserve a lil break.

So our recommendation here is to at least RINSE THE DISHES.  This will save you time on the backend, and will buy you DAYS of being able to sit in the sink.

And then when you do eventually get around to washing them, what would have been scrubbing old food off for seemingly forever, it will be a simple wash instead.

Pro Tip - Use the napkin / paper towel you ate with, to wipe off any leftover debris into the garbage.  This is especially important if you do not have a garbage disposal.

2. Stack & "Soak" the Dishes

You've rinsed - and now it's time to stack the dishes in descending order.  As in, biggest on the bottom, smaller on top, and silverware grouped together, in a receptacle that holds water.

This will

A. Hold off your housemates for a few extra days.

You made an attempt to stack the dishes neatly, so you are taking up less space in the sink.  This allows your roomies to maintain function of the sink, which is probably what they're actually mad about.

B.

You sound reasonable when you say, "They need to soak!"

By "soaking", you are naturally letting the dishes scrub themselves...  This step may not be necessary, but either way it SEEMS like you care about properly washing the tableware.

Plus no matter what you do, there's always gonna be food stuck to those silverware, so this soaking method increases your overall efficiency.

3. Leave the Pans on the Stove

Pans are the oddest shaped thing in your home, and it'll never properly tetris into your sink.

First, it's likely not good to soak your dishes in the sink.  (Or that's what your mom always said.)

And pans usually take up too much space, so you may be negating the progress you made with the stacking.

Pro Tip: If you add the lid to the pot or pan, you prevent the bugs from getting in and any bad smells.

4. The Dishwasher

If you're a Dirtbag that's fortunate enough to own a dishwasher, we applaud you.

And since you're a Dirtbag, we assume you're already taking clean dishes out of the dishwasher one-by-one, until you finally have to unload all of it. (Or make someone else do the brunt of that work.)

Once the dishwasher is empty, pounce immediately.   You can quickly load the neatly stacked pile into the dishwasher in record time.

And if you do actually have to hand wash something, you can do it lightly, and then load it right into the dishwasher, which will pick up the slack.

It's sanitizing!

Then you can feel like a hero, I started the dishwasher! What do you want from me??

This completes the cycle.  Dishes are clean, and you're chilling.

Did we miss a step of the process? Do you have another Dirtbag hack for the cycle?

Let us know if the comments!

And we still have a handful of TUDDY MUGS still available below!
